An (unexpected) New Floor Complete With French Drain For My Flowershop

There was so much stuff being stored in this room that we didn’t realize how f*%#’d up the floor was.  The skylights helped us see the truth.  We needed to break up a bunch of this concrete and pour a new floor.  In the wee hours of the morning before the team was scheduled to start, I woke up realizing that this was our perfect chance to put in a floor drain; an expense I had ruled out before realizing we needed the new floor.

After 85 years of earthquakes and tree roots, this section was cracked beyond repair.

The first leg of the French Drain.

Angel, the hardest working guy in concrete.

And our very proud Floor Manager, Art The Dog, is pleased with the work.

  1. What an amazing transformation! Floors are everything. It’s the conduit manifesting our connection with the Earth. What a gorgeous dog!
